Der Anlass fand unter dem Lead von RAILplus, der Vereinigung der Meterspurbahnen, statt. Thomas Baumgartner, Direktor der Appenzeller Bahnen, ist seit 2023 auch Verwaltungsratspräsident von RAILplus und fungierte als Gastgeber des diesjährigen «Rendez-vous RAILplus». Die Gäste trafen aus der ganzen Schweiz mit dem Extrazug ab St. Gallen in Appenzell ein und folgten anschliessend interessanten Fachreferaten zu den Themen Automatisierung im Bahnbetrieb, Windwarnsysteme, Fahrbahnsysteme und Interaktion Rad/Schiene im Kleinen Ratsaal und im Hotel Hecht. Beim anschliessenden Mittagessen im Hotel Hecht herrschte ein reger Austausch. Nationalrat Thomas Rechsteiner übermittelte seine Grussworte. Mit einem Quiz und der Auslosung des nächsten Gastgebers klang der Anlass aus. Der nächste Anlass im Jahr 2026 wird in Freiburg stattfinden, bei den Transports Publics Fribourgeois (TPF).
