Cet événement s’est déroulé sous la houlette de RAILplus, l’association des chemins de fer à voie métrique. Thomas Baumgartner, directeur des chemins de fer appenzellois et président du conseil d’administration de RAILplus depuis 2023, a fait office d’hôte de cette première édition du «Rendez-vous RAILplus». Les invités venus de toute la Suisse sont arrivés de St-Gall à Appenzell par le train spécialement affrété pour l’occasion. Ils ont ensuite eu la possibilité de découvrir le village lors d’une visite guidée ou d’assister à des exposés intéressants sur les thèmes de l’automatisation de la production ferroviaire, des systèmes d’alerte au vent, des systèmes de voie ferrée et de l’interaction rail/roue. Ils se sont ensuite retrouvés à l’hôtel Hecht pour le repas de midi. Le conseiller national Thomas Rechsteiner y a fait un discours de bienvenue. La journée s’est terminée par un quiz et le tirage au sort de la compagnie qui accueillera le prochain Rendez-vous RAILplus. Il s’agit des Transports Publics Fribourgeois (TPF) et l’événement aura lieu le 27 août 2026.
